Temecula Youth Baseball’s Mustang all-stars advance to regional tournament

Temecula Youth Baseball’s Mustang All-Star team is on a roll right now. The 10-year-old team, lead by manager John Paino, has already secured district and sectional wins with a formula that included a solid defense and big hits.

Paino’s team advanced to a regional competition Saturday that included the top eight teams from leagues throughout the Inland Empire.

But before heading out to their first game, the team first stopped by to give league sponsor DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula a big nod of thanks.

“We’re happy to support the sports community, really the whole community. We’re all about partnering with the community, the schools and giving them our support,” said Eric Willis, general manager of DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula.

Shawn Ferris, president of Temecula Youth Baseball, noted that it will be represented by five teams in All-Star tournaments throughout the state.

“I can’t believe we finally broke through as a league,” Ferris said. “This year, we are the powerhouse and it’s because we’ve got great coaches and great kids.”

Ferris said the Mustang, Bronco and Pony divisions are all primed for regional competition, Pinto Coach Pitch will compete against teams throughout Southern California and Shetland will advance to the World Series held in West Covina this month.
