New 2011 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger Top Safety Picks by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety
Two new Chrysler Group LLC vehicles, the 2011 Chrysler 300 and the 2011 Dodge Charger, have been named Top Safety Picks for 2011 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), marking the first time both vehicles have achieved the highest ratings.

IIHS recognizes vehicles with outstanding crashworthiness in front, side, rollover and rear crashes. The new Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger both received ‘good’ ratings, the highest achievable, in all four categories.

The new Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger join five other Chrysler Group LLC vehicles that were named Top Safety Picks by the IIHS in December. Dodge Avenger and Journey, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Patriot, when equipped with optional side airbags, and the Chrysler 200 were recognized for superior crashworthiness.

What's my AQ?

What's my AQ?
Chrysler Group LLC has created an animated crash test dummy named Carl to build awareness of its Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle (CPOV) program.

This unlikely spokesman resides online and is ready to test consumers’ knowledge on auto-related pop culture in a fun, interactive experience called “What’s My AQ (automotive quotient)?” Carl gets right to the point – he wants to know whether your automotive brain is the size of a Hemi® engine or a lug nut.

Carl, the air-guitar strumming crash test dummy with tattooed arms and a playful but slightly irreverent attitude, can be found at www.whatsmyaq.com.

Chrysler Officially Drops the Top on the New 200 Convertible - Carscoop

Chrysler Officially Drops the Top on the New 200 Convertible - Carscoop
Chrysler officially released photos and preliminary data on its new 200 Convertible. As previously noted, the drop top model is essentially a facelifted Sebring Convertible featuring a refined exterior design, and a revamped interior with new styling and improved quality.

Customers can choose between two automatically latching tops, which is certainly not a common option in the category. The first option is a body-colored retractable hardtop, while the other is a more traditional cloth soft top, both operated by a button on the key fob.

Another highlight is the media center with voice command that offers Sirius Satellite Radio and a 30-gigabyte HDD/CD/DVD/MP3 radio with SIRIUS Travel Link for real-time information.

The four-seater convertible can be specified with a 173HP 2.4-liter four-cylinder or the brawnier, 283HP 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, both mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. To improve handling, the Detroit firm's engineers have either re-tuned or redesigned almost every part of the suspension, including 22 of 28 suspension bushings.

In the United States, the 2011 Chrysler 200 Convertible will be available in three trim levels, Touring, Limited and S.

2011 Jeep Compass Refreshed: Jeep Compass News – Car and Driver

2011 Jeep Compass Refreshed: Jeep Compass News – Car and Driver
Chrysler’s been working its way through its lineup, giving nearly all 2011 Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep vehicles reworked interiors and revised mechanicals, if not outright redesigning the entire model. Now it’s the diminutive Compass’s turn, and its treatment is more the former than the latter. The Compass shares most of its dirty bits with the Jeep Patriot, which has also been revised for this year. (You might remember that when the Patriot and Compass were being examined by focus groups prior to production, men favored the Patriot, while women preferred the Compass. Jeep intended to build only one of the two vehicles, but rather than actually, you know, make a decision, the company produced both. And here we are.)

The 2011 Compass will get a new face, nicer cabin materials, a new suspension, and a new, off-road-oriented optional AWD system. The most obvious changes are up front, where the Compass receives a new hood, fascia, fenders, grille, and headlights. The result looks like a Grand Cherokee that shrunk in the wash and gained an upswept grin; it’s more attractive than the gawky look of the outgoing model. The family resemblance is of course deliberate, and Jeep jokingly calls this the “Grand” Compass.

2011 Jeep Patriot First Drive - Motor Trend

2011 Jeep Patriot First Drive - Motor Trend
Believe it or not, the Patriot has been around since model-year 2007. For its fifth year on the market, it receives a refresh with minor styling changes and new features. Part of the goal is achieving philosophical realignment (fancy talk for a crossover, huh?) by updating the styling on the company's two crossovers. This makes the new Compass look more like the Grand Cherokee, and the Patriot similar to the Liberty and Wrangler.

To this end, the Patriot got a new front fascia with a new grille and foglamps, new rear end, and new side cladding, and the muffler is now painted black. In addition, ride height was increased by an inch on all-wheel-drive models without Freedom Drive II, increasing it to 9.5. But in all honesty, it would take a Patriot fanatic or someone with a great eye for detail to see the difference. Inside, styling changes are more noticeable. The Patriot receives the new Jeep steering wheel, with available steering-wheel-mounted audio controls. It also gets softer touch points on the door and center console, a feature that gives the interior a higher quality look and feel. Cruise control is now standard on all models, whether base Sport, midrange Latitude, or topline Latitude X, front- or all-wheel drive. Options include an iPod connection, Sirius Travel Link, exterior brightwork, and an all-weather group. Base prices range from $16,695 to $24,595.

Report: Chrysler Town & Country set to reclaim minivan sales crown from Honda Odyssey — Autoblog

Report: Chrysler Town & Country set to reclaim minivan sales crown from Honda Odyssey — Autoblog
Is the real swagger wagon of 2010 built by Chrysler? If you go by total sales, it is. The Chrysler Town & Country has been a player in the minivan market since its arrival in 1990. Now in its fifth generation, the Town & Country has just been refreshed after a comprehensive redesign in 2008. It's not alone in getting an upgrade, however, as some serious competition arrived from Japan in 2010.

All-new minivan models for 2011 include the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna and Nissan Quest, with each of them stuffing a ton of features into modern packages. The Odyssey, which has been the segment's best-seller for the last two years, has had a strong year. Yet despite serious pressure in a surprisingly strong minivan market (2010 will see the segment's first volume uptick since 2005), the Town & Country has climbed the sales board and is poised to take out Japan's finest.

According to The Detroit News, the T&C is sitting on 102,495 sales through November, while its closest competitor, the Honda Odyssey, has sold 98,035 units. Trailing further behind those two is the Sienna with 89,509 sales so far this year. There is one month left but Chrysler's, familymobile seems to be sitting pretty.
