We may seen the unadulterated exterior of the The Dodge Magnum/Durango, but so far the interior has eluded spy shooters the world over. No more. For those still debating if or how closely the Dodge SUV copies the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the interiors should make for less of an argument.

Second National Distracted Driving Summit Set for September
The federal government on Tuesday said it will hold a second National Distracted Driving summit on September 21 . The first summit last year triggered a number of state laws that ban texting while driving, and celebrity endorsements — from people like Oprah — for government crackdowns on the problem.

The second summit will "explore accomplishments since our first summit, as well as the many challenges that lie ahead," said a statement from U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. "Key topics will include research, technology, policy, public outreach and best practices in enforcement."

Following last year's summit, the Obama administration banned texting while driving by 4 million federal employees while they are driving government-owned vehicles. The government also launched a new www.distraction.gov to draw attention to the problem.

A tarantula hawk is not a hawk, but a giant wasp that lives in California’s deserts. An expectant female can be up to four inches long, and when the time comes, she pounces on the nearest tarantula, which is also native to deserts lit orange at night by the glow of Los Angeles. She paralyzes the spider with her half-inch stinger, then drags the prostrate arachnid to an underground lair where she lays a single white egg on it. The egg hatches after five days, and the infant wasp dines on its hapless victim for about a month, craftily saving the organs for last so that the spider remains alive—and fresh.

As luck would have it, we did not encounter any four-inch-long wasps while testing the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is fine because a tarantula hawk’s sting rates on the Schmidt Sting Pain Index as feeling “blinding, fierce, shockingly electric, [like a] running hair dryer has been dropped in your bubble bath.”

Supposedly, the company is only building 500 examples of the car, each of with a price tag of $39,000 if you want a six-speed manual. If you can live your life with a slushbox, Dodge will give you the car for $38,000. For that kind of coin, you get a raucous hood scoop and your choice of three accent colors.

Chrysler Group's Mopar team has the task of customizing and creating project vehicles that are a hit with enthusiasts. The Jeep Nukizer 715 is one of the concepts unveiled at the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, that made a big impression on hard-core off-road enthusiasts and Jeep truck aficionados.

The Nukizer 715 is built on the Jeep J8 four-door military platform, a vehicle built for military and civilian government applications in Egypt. It's a great platform to start with, but considering Chrysler's knack for making old vehicle designs cool again, the J8 is the perfect vehicle to combine the DNA from the original Jeep Kaiser M-715 military vehicle and Jeep Gladiator, both created in the mid-1960s.
