Chrysler Group LLC will make a bigger play for the police fleet market with the all-new Dodge Charger coming later this year.

"We will go after that market hard," Peter Grady, Chrysler's head of network development and fleet said Tuesday in a speech before the NAFA Fleet Management Association at Cobo Center.

The announcement ramps up the competition among Detroit automakers to sell vehicles to police departments nationwide

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee has been spotted during testing, and the SUV wasn't wearing any of the camouflage we're used to seeing. Even more surprising, engineers weren't putting the truck through its paces out at Moab. Instead, the eagle-eyed crew over at Piston Spy nabbed a few shots of the Grand Cherokee as it was making laps of the Nurburgring.

We had nearly forgotten about the Dodge Challenger SRT10. It's not that we don't love the idea of forcing the 8.4-liter V10 from the mighty Dodge Viper into the nose of Chrysler's muscle car, it's just that cars built for SEMA typically have a shelf life shorter than an unpeeled banana. So it came as some surprise when our keen-eyed spy shooters happened to spot the roided-out 600-horsepower Challenger cruising around public streets.
