Dodge Hits the Mark With the All-new 2013 Dodge Dart Compact Car

Dodge redefines performance in the compact car segment with an all-new, state-of-the-art four-door sedan delivering class-leading aerodynamics – the 2013 Dodge Dart.

With Alfa Romeo DNA and Dodge’s passion for performance at its core, the all-new 2013 Dodge Dart is a thoroughly modern vehicle that’s fuel-efficient, beautifully designed and crafted, agile and brings fun back to driving in the segment.

Similar to the Dodge Dart of the late 1960s, the 2013 Dart offers a special blend of style, performance and innovation. The Dodge brand leveraged its nearly 100-year history of passion for building high-quality, innovative vehicles that stand apart in performance and style, as well as from its partner Fiat’s global compact car expertise, to develop the all-new Dodge Dart.

ALFA ROMEO DNA
The all-new Dart is the first Chrysler Group vehicle based upon a Fiat architecture – adapted from the award-winning Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The Giulietta is renowned for satisfying the most demanding customers in terms of road-holding, agility and safety, with exceptional driving dynamics. The Dart leverages all of these attributes within a lengthened and widened platform delivering segment-leading levels of interior roominess.

The all-new Compact U.S. Wide (CUSW) architecture underpinning the Dart is a state-of-the-art architecture with an industry-leading 68 percent of the body composed of high-strength steel, resulting in a very strong and rigid structure. Combined with responsive steering, four-wheel independent suspension, and available 18-inch wheels, the Dart brings fun back to driving in the compact car segment.

UNMISTAKABLE STYLE

The all-new 2013 Dart marks the Dodge brand’s re-entry into the compact sedan segment, hitting the bulls-eye with a modern, unmistakable Dodge design that builds upon its performance heritage while evoking emotion, efficiency and fluidity of movement.

Eye-catching exterior proportions are set off from every angle by dynamic lines and curves, along with advanced technology, to deliver class-leading aerodynamic performance. The personality-packed front view is instantly recognizable as an all-new Dodge with its tailored split-crosshair grille, projector headlamps and fog lamps and accentuated fenders. Signature Dodge full-width LED ‘racetrack’ tail lamps and class-exclusive integrated dual exhaust – both inspired by Dodge Charger – accentuate the athletic and muscular stance of this dynamic and passionate new design.

THREE SOPHISTICATED, FUEL-EFFICIENT & POWERFUL ENGINES
The 2013 Dodge Dart will be powered by three fuel-efficient, powerful, state-of-the-art four-cylinder engines that add to Dart’s fun-to-drive quotient.

Drivers can select from a new Tigershark 16-valve 2.0-liter engine, a 16-valve 1.4-liter MultiAir Intercooled Turbo engine, and a new Tigershark 16-valve 2.4-liter MultiAir four cylinder engine. These three engines, combined with three transmission choices, combine to redefine performance by providing the most diverse powertrain lineup in its class.

MultiAir technology delivers optimum combustion at any speed under all driving conditions by allowing direct and dynamic control of air intake and combustion. The result is up to a 15 percent increase in low engine rpm torque, a 7.5 percent improvement in fuel efficiency and a 10 percent reduction in C02 emissions.

THE ALL-NEW DART – BUILT IN AMERICA
The all-new Dodge Dart will be made in America at Chrysler Group’s Belvidere Assembly Plant in Belvidere, Ill. The Company is in the process of investing $600 million dollars to support the production of future products, including the 2013 Dodge Dart. The investment includes the construction of a 638,000-square-foot body shop, as well as the installation of new machinery, tooling and material handling equipment. Work on the expansion began in the summer of 2010 and will be completed this year.

New 2012 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon Captures Prestigious 'Four Wheeler of the Year' Award from Four Wheeler Magazine

The new 2012 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon – the most capable production vehicle on the planet – has been named “Four Wheeler of the Year” by Four Wheeler magazine. The award is given annually by the editors of the opinion-leading off-road enthusiast magazine.

“The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon owned nearly all aspects of off-road testing during our annual ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ competition,” said Four Wheeler Editor John Cappa. “The grueling 1,000-mile trek put each contending vehicle through its paces in several on- and off-road environments, including high-speed graded roads, jagged rocks, shifting sand dunes, and more. The universal do-all capability of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon allowed it to outperform the other competing 4x4s, making it our 2012 Four Wheeler of the Year award winner.”

To qualify for the competition, entries had to be entirely new or have substantial mechanical revisions from a previous model year. Testing was conducted over more than a thousand miles on a variety of terrain, including pavement, gravel, dirt, sand, rocks and mud, at elevations ranging from sea level to more than 9,000 feet.

“By earning the respected ‘Four Wheeler of the Year’ award, consumers – and particularly the most die-hard off-road enthusiasts – can be assured that the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has established an even higher level of unmatched capability,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “We are delighted the influential editors of ‘Four Wheeler’ magazine have recognized Wrangler’s new level of capability, along with its improved power, torque and fuel efficiency.”

The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon “Four Wheeler of the Year" award comes a year after the Jeep Grand Cherokee – the premium icon of the brand – captured the award, and less than two years after the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was named the Best 4x4 vehicle of the 2000-2009 decade by Four Wheeler magazine.

The “Four Wheeler of the Year” award is the latest in a list of awards the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler has received since its introduction in September. Other recent Wrangler accolades include:
  • 4x4 of the Year, Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine
  • Mid-size SUV of Texas, Texas Auto Writers Association
  • Best Value Off-Road, Active Lifestyle Vehicle (ALV) award

  • ALG Residual Value Award – Best Compact Utility Vehicle

White, Silver Most Popular Car Colors in the World

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CAR COLOR?

White/white pearl has emerged as the fastest growing color to tie with silver as the world’s leading automotive color choices, according to the 2011 DuPont Automotive Color Popularity Report, released today. A substantial increase in the popularity of white/white pearl globally in 2011 has enabled it to surpass longstanding rivals black and gray, to join silver at the top of the world color ranks in this year’s report. The DuPont report, in its 59th year, is the longest running and largest of its kind in the industry, includes automotive color popularity rankings and regional trends from 11 leading automotive regions of the world.

In 2010, white/white pearl was tied for third with gray in the world color ranks with just 16 percent share, but its ongoing popularity in North America, combined with a surge in popularity in Europe, China, Korea, South America and South Africa, has helped to increase its position in 2011 to 22 percent globally. Black and gray dropped to third and fourth, respectively, in this year’s report with red and blue strengthening and holding positions in fifth and sixth place.

The top global vehicle colors in DuPont’s report are as follows:

   1. White/White Pearl and Silver – tie, 22 percent
   2. Black/Black Effect – 20 percent
   3. Gray – 13 percent
   4. Red – 7 percent
   5. Blue – 6 percent
   6. Brown/Beige – 5 percent
   7. Green – 2 percent
   8. Yellow/Gold – 1 percent
   9. Others – 2 percent

“While white/white pearl has historically been a popular color for vehicles, we’ve seen a bigger shift in its popularity this year than DuPont expected,” said Nancy Lockhart, DuPont color marketing manager.

Silver and black have long been recognized in the top three for color popularity. However, in the past few years, white/white pearl has been steadily growing in popularity outside of North America. In 2011, it jumped by more than four percentage points, according to Lockhart. “There has been increased consumer acceptance for white, and our OEM customers are meeting consumer demand for the clean look it brings to vehicle design,” she said. “Silver and black were once the top colors of luxury, but white has increased in this area. The overall trend for casual luxury has spread to numerous vehicle types. The expectation to have a luxurious feel to the vehicle is globally sought. Classic white and pearlescent white effects are inspiring luxury design.

North America: White/White Pearl Continues its Lead, Followed by Black and Silver

White/white pearl, with 23 percent market share, dominated North American vehicle color for the fifth consecutive year, led by the truck/SUV segment, with 29 percent. The intermediate/CUV segment found white to rise from 16 percent in 2010 to 18 percent in 2011. Black/black effect captured 18 percent in the region, and led popularity in the luxury vehicle segment, while black effect continues to increase over solid black on luxury segments. Silver decreased with 16 percent share overall in the region, but continued to lead the compact segment in North America with 20 percent. Gray had 13 percent of the market and was in fourth position across all segments, and red maintained its fifth place rank with 10 percent of North American market share overall. High impact colors of bright blues and yellows with tempting hues of brown/beiges and greens continue to fill the region with colorful choices.

Jeep® Wrangler Wins 2012 ALG Residual Value Award for Best Compact Utility Vehicle

The new 2012 Jeep® Wrangler has received the Residual Value Award in the “Compact Utility” category from ALG, the industry benchmark for residual values and depreciation data.

The annual ALG Residual Value Awards recognize vehicles that are predicted to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a conventional three-year period.

“The Wrangler is iconic among SUVs, and Jeep has continued to build its status by pairing its famous rock crawling abilities with fresh features, improved powertrain, and a refined interior,” said Raj Sundaram for ALG. “Regularly updated editions stoke demand, helping it jump to the top of the Compact Utility segment.”

ALG Residual Value Award winners are determined through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance and industry trends. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, pricing and marketing strategies remain the key factors that affect ALG’s residual value forecasts.

“We are delighted that ALG has recognized our new Jeep Wrangler with its Residual Value Award,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Consumers continue to aspire to own the unique Jeep Wrangler. By offering Wrangler in two- and four-door models, with a variety of open-air top options and an array of limited-edition models, Wrangler has continued to generate significant demand. Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com Honors Jeep® Wrangler with Two More Best Resale Value Awards

Jeep® Wrangler has been named Best Resale Value in its class by Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com. For the second consecutive year, the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler is also one of the Top 10 cars with Best Resale Value according to Kelley Blue Book.

“Jeep had one of the better year-over-year improvements with a 4.1 percentage point gain in its 60-month residual value for 2012,” said Eric Ibara, director of residual value consulting for Kelley Blue Book. “Particularly the Wrangler, among this year’s top-10 list, has been a steady performer, consistently racking up high values. For example, the 2007 model has yet to dip below 60 percent of MSRP as a 5-year-old vehicle. Each succeeding model year has managed to maintain that same high level of performance.”

Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com Best Resale Value Awards are based on projections from the Kelley Blue Book® Official Residual Value Guide, determined by a skilled staff of automotive analysts. These prestigious awards honor vehicles expected to maintain the greatest proportion of their original list price after five years of ownership. Vehicle’s projected resale value is specific to the 2012 model year.

“In the last 18 months, we have completely updated the entire Jeep vehicle lineup, highlighted by the introduction of an all-new Grand Cherokee, as well as a new, more fuel-efficient and powerful Jeep Wrangler” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “The result has been increased showroom traffic, a 44-percent improvement in sales so far this year, and increased residual values for our vehicles. We are delighted that Kelley Blue Book’s kbb.com has recognized the Jeep brand’s improvements, and particularly these two awards for the Wrangler.”

RamBox is a segment-exclusive cargo management system that includes the following key elements:

All-new 2011 Dodge Durango 'Well Worth the Wait,' Earns 'Car of the Month' Award from NADAguides for November

The new Dodge Durango continues to garner awards and high praise from experts impressed with its best-in-class capability, style, spaciousness, interior craftsmanship and driving dynamics. With its four-wheel independent suspension, near 50:50 weight distribution, responsive steering and handling and best-in-class driving range, combined with its standard seven-passenger functional, flexible and premium interior and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick status, the all-new 2011 Dodge Durango is NADAguides’ “Car of the Month” for November.

“The craftsmanship found in this vehicle demonstrates why it took Dodge three years to overhaul this vehicle – it was well worth the wait,” said Troy Snyder —Director of Product Development, NADAguides. “Every line of the 2011 Dodge Durango has become fluid and smooth, the driving performance enhanced, the interior upgraded to luxury standards and a safety system that surpasses its closest competitors. Our team of analysts really enjoyed driving this vehicle and feels it will give the competition a run for its money.”

The NADAguides’ (National Automobile Dealers Association) “Car of the Month” award gives consumers practical information on new cars, trucks and SUVs chosen by the analysts at NADAguides for exceptional performance, efficiency, features, options and appeal.

“We’re extremely pleased NADAguides has recognized the Dodge Durango as the ‘Car of the Month’ for November,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Dodge brand. “It’s always an honor when automotive experts recognize the style, capability and value we’re offering with our all-new lineup of vehicles. With Durango’s class-leading towing capacity, best-in-class driving range and premium interior, it truly is one of the best choices in the seven-passenger SUV segment.”

The “Car of the Month” award from NADAguides follows one week after the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) named the Dodge Durango “Full-Size SUV of Texas.”

Criteria used to determine NADAguides “Car of the Month” includes: quality of engineering, fuel efficiency, safety equipment and ratings, pricing and overall value, sales trends, consumer market interest on NADAguides.com, and test drives performed by NADAguides market analysts. Car of the Month vehicles are eligible for the NADAguides Car of the Year award.

NADAguides said the first complete overhaul inside and out since 2008 helped the 2011 Dodge Durango catch the attention of its analysts. The fresh look of the exterior, quality upgrade in the interior, a safety system that surpasses the competition, ample space, comfort, technology and performance make the Dodge Durango impressive all around. Best-in-class power, best-in-class towing and best-in-class driving range coupled with an IIHS Top Safety Pick further cement the 2011 Dodge Durango as an industry leader and the NADAguides “Car of the Month” for November.

2012 Jeep® Wrangler and 2012 Fiat 500 Named ‘Hottest’ Vehicles at 2011 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show

The results are in. The second annual Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Award was presented to the 2012 Jeep® Wrangler for the “Hottest 4x4-SUV” and to the 2012 Fiat 500 for the “Hottest Sports Compact Car” this morning at the 2011 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The SEMA Award honors vehicles that specialty-equipment manufacturers believe are the best platforms for accessorization and showcase this year’s most unique products. The award recognizes four outstanding vehicle models in four categories – “Hottest Car,” “Hottest Sport Compact Car,” “Hottest Truck,” and “Hottest-4x4-SUV.” Both awards were accepted by Mopar® President and CEO, Pitero Gorlier.

"The Jeep Wrangler has an incredible enthusiast following, and with hundreds of Mopar parts and accessories available for it, it is clearly one of our most customized vehicles," said Gorlier. "And, in just its first year, our new Fiat 500 is prominent throughout this year's SEMA Show as it is the perfect canvas for customization."

The “Hottest 4x4-SUV” of this year’s Show is the fourth award the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler has received in the last 10 days. Last week, it captured the prestigious “4x4 of the Year” crown from Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine, the “Mid-size SUV of Texas” award by the Texas Auto Writers Association and “Best Off-Road Value” in the Active Lifestyle Vehicle awards competition.

“With an avid following of enthusiasts, Jeep Wrangler has long been the most customized SUV in the marketplace,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Wrangler owners love to modify their vehicles, often at purchase with dealer-installed Mopar parts, and throughout their ownership experience. For 2012, Jeep Wrangler is an even better customization platform, with more fuel efficiency, power and capability than ever before.”

With beautiful Italian styling, timeless functionality, fuel efficiency and innovative technology – the same attributes that made the original version an icon – the 2012 Fiat 500 is relevant for an entirely new generation of drivers.

“The Fiat 500’s timeless proportions and efficient design make it a perfect platform for customization,” said Olivier Francois, Head of Fiat Brand and Chief Marketing Officer, Chrysler Group. “We are honored by the SEMA Award recognition and excited by the creativity and enthusiasm of our fans and the specialty-equipment manufacturers who continue to make the Cinquecento even more distinctive in the marketplace.”

The 2011 SEMA Show features more than 2,000 exhibiting companies. SEMA Show exhibitors manufacture thousands of products that improve performance, safety and convenience, as well as those that enhance appearance and comfort. While products are available for every make and model vehicle, exhibitors are investing more into the Chevrolet Camaro, the Fiat 500, Ford F-Series, and Jeep Wrangler than any other vehicle. Consumers, therefore, can expect to find more options for accessorizing these vehicles.

Eight Chrysler Group LLC Vehicles Take Home a Consumers Digest 'Best Buy' for the 2012 Model Year

Consumers Digest announced its annual automotive “Best Buys,” and vehicles from Chrysler Group LLC received eight of them, more than doubling the number of “Best Buys” Chrysler Group vehicles received in 2010 and 2011. In the past year and a half, the Chrysler Group has introduced 16 all-new or significantly refreshed models, and many awards have been rolling in ever since.

The Chrysler Group vehicles that received Consumers Digest automotive “Best Buys” for the 2012 model year are:

Chrysler: 300, Town & Country
Jeep®: Grand Cherokee
Dodge: Durango, Grand Caravan, Challenger
Ram: 1500
Fiat: 500

“It’s a tremendous honor to have so many vehicles named as ‘Best Buys’ by Consumers Digest,” said Doug Betts, Senior Vice President – Quality, Chrysler Group LLC. “We have gone to great lengths to enhance the craftsmanship and quality of all of our vehicles. These awards are evidence that we’re producing cars, trucks, crossovers, minivans and SUVs that customers – and critics – appreciate.”

As testament to the improvements made to Chrysler Group’s vehicles in terms of quality and desirability, the Company earlier today announced that vehicle sales are up for the 19th consecutive month.

The Consumers Digest automotive “Best Buys” issue is an annual publication in which editors judge vehicles on many build quality and performance attributes such as ergonomics, fit and finish, utility, acceleration, fuel economy and many more. They also look at cost of ownership variables such as resale value, warranty, maintenance costs and annual operating expenses. The top vehicles in 12 separate categories are then chosen as “Best Buys” by the publication.

Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan Named Top Safety Picks by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

The newest Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivan models have been named Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety for 2012. In addition to receiving top scores in rollover tests, both minivans achieved Good ratings in the areas of frontal, side and rear crash protection.

Additionally, to be considered, vehicles must have standard electronic stability control systems.

For 2012, both minivans offer more than 40 standard or available safety features. Front seat mounted airbags, three-row side curtain air bags, driver-side knee blocker air bag and all-speed traction control are among the standard safety features.

Both models also include an available SafetyTec group with features including ParkSense rear park assist, Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection.

“Safety-conscious parents shopping for a family hauler should be pleased with today’s minivan choices,” said David Zuby, the Institute's chief research officer.

The 2012 models of Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country received strength–to- weight ratio ratings of 4.51, among the highest of the minivans tested, and above the IIHS requirement of 4.0. Minimum requirements by the government are 1.5.

“With the latest addition of Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country, Chrysler Group has 11 vehicles that have been named Top Safety Pick since we began our unprecedented launch of new vehicles a year ago and is unsurpassed,” said Scott Kunselman, senior vice president – engineering. “This latest recognition by IIHS underscores our commitment to engineering safety and security across all vehicle segments. As we continue our product transformation, we’ll continue to engineer new technology and more capabilities into all our vehicles.”

Last month, the 2012 Fiat 500 was named Top Safety Pick by IIHS. Additionally, the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Patriot, Chrysler 300 and 200, Dodge Durango, Charger, Journey and Avenger received Top Safety Pick designations earlier this year from IIHS.

New 2012 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon Named "4x4 of the Year" by Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road Magazine

The off-roading experts at Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road magazine have awarded the new 2012 Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon their top honor: “4x4 of the Year.” Powering the legendary Wrangler to the title was its new Pentastar 3.6-liter V-6 engine that transforms the Wrangler’s driving experience on-road, while giving the most-capable production off-road vehicle in the world even more off-road mastery.

"The 2012 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is the most competent 4x4 ever produced,” said Rick Péwé, editor-in-chief of Petersen's 4-Wheel & Off-Road. “The Rubicon gives you complete confidence in its terrain tackling abilities. It allows you to take the trail less traveled without worrying about the journey. And it does so while leaving a smile on your face. This is one fun ride.”

Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road’s “4x4 of the Year” competition included a thousand miles of trails, where editors evaluated suspensions, drivetrains, transfer case functionality, and off-road performance – on sand, mud, dirt and rock – as well as styling and value. They tested everything from how well a vehicle climbs up a rock to how fast it can drive across the desert, and every scenario in between.

“No one puts a vehicle to the test more thoroughly than the editors of Petersen’s 4-Wheel & Off-Road, so Jeep is especially proud to win this prestigious award,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has long been the most capable vehicle on the planet. With a completely new powertrain for 2012, it has reset the capability benchmark, while simultaneously offering consumers more fuel efficiency, horsepower, and on-road performance in every-day driving.”

This latest honor from Petersen’s 4-Wheel and Off-Road magazine is the third award for the new 2012 Jeep Wrangler in the last week. Last week, the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) named Jeep Wrangler Unlimited the “Mid-Size SUV of Texas,” while a panel of journalists and professional athletes awarded it the “Best Off-Road Value” in the 2012 Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year competition.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Joins the State Attorneys General and Ad Council to Unveil New Public Service Advertising Campaign to Urge Young Adult Drivers to ‘Stop the Texts’ and ‘Stop the Wrecks’

Eighty-two percent of young adult drivers (16-24) have read a standard text message while driving, according to a national survey conducted by the Ad Council. In an effort to educate young drivers about the dangers of texting while driving, the State Attorneys General and Consumer Protection agencies, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA)and the Ad Council are launching a new public service advertising campaign (PSA) nationwide. The campaign includes TV, radio, outdoor and digital PSAs. Additionally, to extend the campaign messages online, new Facebook, Twitter and YouTube social media channels go live today.

NHTSA reports that distracted driving is the number one killer of American teens. Sixteen percent of all drivers younger than 20 involved in fatal crashes were reported to have been distracted while driving. The Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) reports that a texting driver is twenty-three times more likely to get into a crash than a non-texting driver.

More Jeep® Vehicle Awards: Wrangler and Grand Cherokee Named Active Lifestyle Vehicle (ALV) Winners for 2012

A group of automotive journalists and elite athletes from a variety of sports gathered in Phoenix last week to choose the Active Lifestyle Vehicle (ALV) winners for 2012. The new 2012 Jeep® Wrangler captured the “Best Value Off-Road” award, while the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee earned top honors in the “Luxury Off-Road” category.

“Both the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee beat out vehicles which had dominated their competitive segments for multiple seasons,” said Nina Russin, automotive journalist and ALV program founder. “The new, more powerful engine and the reconfigured cargo area make the Wrangler a very easy vehicle to live with on a daily basis, as well as a great choice for outdoor enthusiasts who like to get off the grid on the weekends.

“The tremendous improvements to the interior of the Grand Cherokee in terms of design, fit and finish, as well as the new engine were in my opinion both game changers. And of course, the Grand Cherokee remains capable of navigating the most extreme off-road trails," Russin added.

The ALV evaluations took into consideration overall vehicle design, engine power, fuel efficiency, and cargo capability. In the final tally, the athletes’ votes and those of the journalist jury panel each accounted for 50 percent.

“Jeep vehicles offer the perfect blend of fun, performance and capability – and are built for any adventure – so Grand Cherokee and Wrangler were right at home in this unique competition,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “We are delighted to have earned awards in both the Value and Luxury categories with the two pillars of the Jeep brand.”

2012 Dodge Durango Named “Full-size SUV of Texas” by Texas Auto Writers Association

Nearly 60 journalists belonging to the Texas Automotive Writers Association (TAWA) spent two days driving the industry's newest sport-utility and crossover vehicles in San Antonio, and when the dust settled, the new Dodge Durango stood proud as the winner of the prestigious “Full-Size SUV of Texas” honor.

“It’s always an honor when opinion-leading journalists recognize the tremendous capability, style and value we’re offering with our all-new lineup of Dodge vehicles,” said Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Dodge Brand. “With Durango’s standard seven-passenger seating, class-leading towing capacity and driving range, the Dodge Durango offers a true no-compromise solution, blending capability and refinement into one stylish SUV.”

The TAWA media take many customer demands into consideration when evaluating the vehicles, including everything from exterior styling and on- and off-road capability, to the entrant's overall utility, value and fuel efficiency.

“The 2012 Dodge Durango made quite an impression at this year's TAWA Truck Rodeo," said Mike Herzing, President of TAWA. "With its spacious and refined interior, impressive driving dynamics, and class-leading towing capability, it's only fitting that the Dodge Durango is named the 2012 Full-Size SUV of Texas."

Earlier this year, the Dodge Journey seven-seat crossover was recognized by TAWA, winning the coveted “Family Car of Texas” award.

New 2012 Jeep® Wrangler: A New Heart, the Same Soul

New 2012 Jeep® Wrangler: A New Heart, the Same Soul
Jeep® Wrangler – the most capable and recognized vehicle in the world – becomes even more capable both on- and off-road for 2012, courtesy of an all-new, more fuel efficient and more powerful 3.6-liter V-6 engine, and a new five-speed automatic transmission – both of which it shares with the award-winning Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The all-new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 and five-speed automatic transmission dramatically enhance Wrangler’s on-road driving performance – delivering up to 21 miles per gallon, 40 percent more power and 10 percent more torque – while also taking the vehicle’s legendary off-road capability
to a new level.

“Jeep Wrangler – the most capable and iconic vehicle in the world – has a new heart but retains the same soul for 2012,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO – Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Our new 3.6-liter V-6 engine gives the ever-capable Wrangler a completely new, more refined on-road driving experience – complete with more fuel efficiency, power and torque.

Chrysler Group’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine – winner of the prestigious Ward’s 10 Best Engines award – delivers 285 horsepower (209 kW) and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (353 N•m), with greater fuel efficiency. The improvement, when compared to the previous 3.8-liter V-6 engine, is 40 percent in horsepower and 10 percent in torque. Additionally, for refined shifting and greater performance, the Jeep Wrangler migrates from a four-speed to a new five-speed automatic transmission. The 2012 Jeep Wrangler also features the company’s first application of a manual transmission to the Pentastar V-6.

The Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited will continue to be available in four models: Sport, Sport S, Sahara and Rubicon. Combined with an all-new interior for 2011, the 2012 Jeep Wrangler is virtually all-new over the past two model years and will excite core Jeep followers while appealing to new customers.

Beautiful and sporty, the Grand Cherokee SRT8 is the single best SUV for the money. | The Detroit News

Jeep's Grander Cherokee SRT8 | The Detroit News

Race car drivers have a different genetic makeup.

They have a string of DNA that can magically sense a vehicle's exact limit. They understand how fast, really, how fast a car can go through a corner before the tires can no longer hold it on the track. They see speed, hear vehicle dynamics and feel decreasing radius turns, knowing exactly when to push through the apex and gun the gas.

My genes are programmed differently. That might explain why I lifted my foot off the accelerator when the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8's speedometer read 118 mph on the straightaway with a hard left turn rapidly approaching.

There was still more space, more gears and more power bursting out of the 470-horsepower 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 before I reached the orange cones, clearly marking when I would need to mash my foot against the brake pedal and activate those high performance Brembo brakes. Ignore them and fiery death surely awaits. It was genetically impossible for me to keep the accelerator pressed down.

Whether by instinct or DNA programming, the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 will test your body's desire for self-preservation. And if you buy an SRT, the new Chrysler Group LLC brand that stands for Street and Racing Technology, you will earn a day of professional track training from the Richard Petty Driving Experience.

It's big and beefy and defies everything a person might think about an SUV. It's quick, it's nimble, it's mind-blowing powerful, it's track ready and daily driver worthy.

It will make passengers squeak in their Nappa leather and suede sculpted seats with that mix of joy and fear as it transforms from SUV to funny car, ripping up the road, spitting it out and leaving everyone in a trail of exhaust coming out of those beautiful 4-inch twin exhaust tips.

The only thing this Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 shares with the previous generation is the name. Everything else is better. Gloriously faster, stronger and all around funner.

See, it even inspires fake words.

The hot rod SUV

First, the new Grand Cherokee SRT8 looks the part of a hot rod SUV. The double heat extractors on the hood remind me of a bull ready to charge. The war stripes of LED daytime running lights on the front tell those approaching to use caution.

Dodge Durango Commercial - Gary | DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula

The new Durango has an advanced traction control system. If one of the wheels suddenly loses its grip, this system slows it down until it can regain its footing and catch up.

It's like the Durango is telling that wheel, "Whoa...Gary, you're working too hard buddy. Relax. Gather yourself and join us when you're ready."

Dodge Durango Commercial - Responsibility | DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of T...

They say with great power comes great responsibility. Well when you own a Durango you'll have tons of power, enough to tow up to 7,400 lbs. So owning a Durango means you now have the responsibility to go dirt biking, ATV'ing, motorcycling, boating, jet skiing and show a Ford Explorer a thing to two about what it means to have "Best in Class Towing."

Dodge Durango Commercial - Punchline | DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula

A fuel economist and a horsepower enthusiast walk into a bar. The fuel economist says "I have an SUV with a V6 engine that can go up to 500 miles on a single tank of gas." The horsepower enthusiast says "Well my SUV has a V6 engine with best-in-class towing and power." The punchline is...they're both driving a Dodge Durango...get it?

Dodge Durango Commercial - Rhymes With | DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Teme...

The Dodge Durango has a heated steering wheel and ventilated seats wrapped in nappa leather, the same shade of supple cow hide you'd find on a certain high performance luxury automobile, the name of which of course we can't mention. But we can say it's Italian. It's got a horse leaping across the grill and without being too specific it rhymes with "merrari."

Dodge Durango Commercial - Sensitive | DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula

It may look mean but the Dodge Durango is actually a very sensitive SUV. Take the rain brake support system. When the windshield wipers are in use, the brakes are instantly triggered to clamp down ever so gently on the rotors to dry them off, making for safer, more responsive braking in the rain. As if holding a handkerchief the brakes hug the rotors whispering quietly, "Don't cry...your safe....you're safe now."

Dodge Durango Commercial - Radar | DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula

The new Dodge Durango has Adaptive Cruise Control. It has a radar sensor in the bumper. Radar that detects the distance between you and the vehicle ahead and manages that distance automatically. It also allows you to say to people, "dude, my car has radar." Which, in these competitive times is kind of a game changer.

The American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) Dealer of the Week

AIADA’s Dealership of the Week: DCH Auto Group Spearheads Teen Safe Driving Initiative
Vehicle crashes are the number one killer of teenagers today. Unfortunately, the majority of these crashes are preventable as they are the result of mindless, distracted driving. Through DCH Auto Group’s Teen Safe Driving Program, which began March 2008, its dealerships are partnering with local high schools and Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) to raise awareness and educate teens and parents about smart decisions and safe driving. Currently DCH dealerships sponsor 30 SADD chapters in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Southern California, which now include about 2,000 members. Each program is tailored to the needs of the individual high school, allowing dealerships to contribute resources where they are needed the most in their communities. “The number of crashes involving teens is staggering and the tragic results are devastating,” said Shau-wai Lam, Chairman of DCH Auto Group. “We are automobile retailers and this is an area where we can make a difference by working together with high school students and parents to save lives through education, action, and advocacy of teen safe driving in their schools and local communities.” Thanks to the program’s effectiveness, it has been recognized by several groups, including The Governor’s Highway Safety Association and The National Safety Council Teen Safe Driving Coalition.

DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula provides both financial and staff support to help Temecula's Great Oak High School develop a successful, sustainable SADD chapter and to raise awareness about important behavioral decisions when behind the wheel of a car.

DCH Auto Group Temecula helps a local Cancer Warrior

From L-R: Murrietta Family-daughter Bella, mother April, son Logan, daughter Savannah , DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula employee Bree Contreras, Don’t Worry Be Happy Foundation Board Member Mina Buc and Jim Buc.  DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula General Manager Eric Willis
Undoubtedly, we have all been touched by cancer in some way.  So when DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula employee Bree Contreras met Don’t Worry Be Happy Foundation Board Member, Erin Ferrell, Bree became inspired and knew that her DCH Auto Group Temecula family could help.

With the support of DCH Chrysler Jeep Dodge of Temecula General Manager, Eric Willis and DCH Honda Acura of Temecula Kenneth Colson, the dealerships were able to raise $500 in one day to donate to the Don't Worry Be Happy Foundation (http://www.dwbhshirts.org/) and help a struggling Cancer Warrior’s family pay their bills.

Our local Warrior is Logan Murrietta.

The Murrietta’s, a one income family, had two young daughters when they were blessed with the arrival of Logan. When Logan was diagnosed with a form of children’s eye cancer called retinoblastoma, their lives turned upside down.

Life has turned into long trips to CHLA where Logan is being treated. The long trips to Los Angeles, the stay overs there, the huge deductibles and lost hours at work are taxing the Murrietta’s pocketbooks. Any parent knows that they would gladly trade places with their child with cancer, so imagine the worry that fills the Murriettas. DCH Auto Group Temecula’s donation will allow the Don't Worry Be Happy Foundation to continue helping people trying to beat cancer stop worrying about finances so they can focus on healing.

Logan is nearly nine months old and with his treatment is continuing to get better.

If you would like to support the Don't Worry Be Happy Foundation visit their website at  http://www.dwbhshirts.org/.
